Overview
Writing about research involves particular grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary that allows a writer (you) to respect the research and the authors of that research as well as to clearly articulate your own position about you subject. It's not the same kind of language you use for everyday, thus, as part of our class we will practice some kind of grammar, punctuation, or vocabulary relevant to good writing about research each week.
What you will post
Each week, sometimes as part of a regular discussion board post and sometimes as a stand alone assignment, you will be asked to complete some writing exercise. This is informal practice. You will not be graded on how right you are. You will earn your grade by your practice. Whatever you are asked to do, you will post it to our CLASS DISCUSSION BOARD. Each Writing Exercise post will include specific instructions for what to post. Read the instructions carefully prior to posting.
How you will be evaluated
Completing the Writing Exercises for our class counts towards 10% of your grade.
In order to earn a "A" for that 10%, you must: Post all required Writing Exercises on time to our CLASS DISCUSSION BOARD. For each writing exercise post you fail to post, your letter grade will drop by one full letter grade. Thus, if you do three writing exercises, you'll earn a "B"; if you do two, you'll earn a "C"; if you do one, you'll earn a "D". Obviously if you don't do any of the writing exercises, you will earn an "F" for that 10% of your grade.
