1. How much time would it be possible to spend on each piece of student writing?
2. What were they being asked to do in the first place, what was the context for fulfilling the assignment (where did they do it, how much time did they have, how was it explained to them, what technology did they have access to)
3. What is the expectation for what comes next with that piece of writing--what will students do with it (revise it, put it into a portfolio, throw it out, use it for a bigger project, etc).
