Overview: As we enter the last weeks of our intercession course, use this information to complete your project.

Details
1. COMPLETE YOUR ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY WORKSHEETS. I sense that some folks are not interested in this step. However, I insist on it. I've said repeatedly how real research is more than just finding a bunch of articles after you've written the paper. For instructions on how to complete the annotated bibliography worksheets, see the assignment information for locating and evaluating sources. You will find all the details you need on that page as well as the link to the actual worksheet template that you need to turn in. Completing the annotated bibliography worksheets is worth 10% of your final grade. If you do not send these to me before your one-on-one conference, make sure you have them at the time of the conference.

2. COMPLETE A DRAFT OF YOUR RESEARCH PAPER. Once you've located your sources and thought about how they contribute to your argument, It is time to draft your report. Your research paper will end up being between 2000 and 2500 words. I've reduced the number of words for the final draft because we did not complete the interview portion of the project. Only one of you turned in the positioning yourself as a researcher assignment, but most you met with me to at least discuss what your research question is. Your draft of your research paper should attempt to answer your research questions--which might have changed over time and after conducting your research.

3. MEET WITH ME TO WORKSHOP YOUR RESEARCH PAPER. Between Monday, 17 January 2022 and Wednesday, 19 January 2022 you should set up a one-on-one conference with me. During the conference you will share your draft with me using either google.docs or as an emailed attachment. We will talk about what is successful about your draft so far and what you have to do to finish the draft. Meetings will be a half hour long. You must email me to set up a time. Unless you are in China, please plan on having a conference between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM EST. Failure to have this conference will result in an F for 10% of your final grade.

4. TURN IN YOUR REVISED DRAFT BY NOON ON 21 JANUARY 2022. This is the last day that I can file a grade for intercession courses. Turn your revision in to me using email. Email me at BOTH ltorda@bridgew.edu and lee.torda@gmail.com. Your Final Research Report is worth 20% of your final grade. When you email your finished draft to me, include the following:
  • Your workshop draft of your paper that you brought to your conference.
  • Your revised draft of your paper.
  • A 500 word reflection on what you learned about writing about research and the ways I will be able to see that in your final draft. Include this reflection as a separate document.

Formatting
  • You can use with MLA or APA formatting for citations in your paper and for your bibliography. If you need help with how to do this, please check out the Maxwell Library guide to how to format your paper using MLA or APA.
  • I do not need a separate cover page for your final draft. Instead, single space your name, the date, and the name of our class in the top left corner of the first page of your paper.
  • On all of your other pages, please put the page number and your last name in the top right corner of the page (mine would be Torda 2, Torda 3, etc)
  • Please double space
  • Please use Garamond or similar serif font in 10 or 12 point.
