BRING TO CLASS AS PART OF YOUR MIDTERM PORTFOLIO/RESEARCH NOTEBOOK:
BONUS QUESTION:It’s Lent. You may not be a practicing Catholic, but Lent is not a bad time to take on a 40 day challenge. Because, why not? For the 40 days of Lent I write one letter/note/card to someone I love every day just to remind them that this is the case. It’s my Lent thing. I don’t really like to give things up, but I’m happy to take on a challenge.
Let’s support each other in a 40 day challenge:what would you like to try to do for the next 40 days that will improve your life? Think about it carefully. And tell me what your challenge is. You don’t have to do it, but, again, why not? It’ll be fun. If you even try to do the 40 day challenge, it will earn the class a cupcake party and one free either reading journal/or free absence. But the real deal is the class cupcake party.
If you are interested in the challenge, write a 100-200 word challenge statement where you tell me what you are going to do, why you are going to do it, and what will count as successful.
- Your Positioning yourself as a Research Draft. You don’t have to revise it. Include the entire packet of materials I gave back to you in class on Monday.
- A 200-300 WORD REFLECTION:Since writing this draft of Positioning Yourself as a Researcher, where are you at with your research question/possible thesis? Answer that question. Typed, stapled to the top of the packet for your Positioning yourself as a researcher.
- A 200-300 WORD REFLECTION:Think about what you’ve learned from the readings we’ve done in class; think about what you’ve learned from They Say I Say; think about what you’ve learned from the samples of research we’ve read in class.
- Your completed Locating and Evaluating Resources Part I.This includes one annotated bibliography worksheet per source and the 750-1000 word reflection. See the class details for what needs to be included in the reflection.
- IN-CLASS: A 500 word reflection about the semester so far:How are you doing so far this semester academically? Think about the goals you wrote about on the first face-to-face meeting for our class. Have you taken any steps to reach those goals? What are you waiting for? What can you do to make the second half of the semester as successful as possible?
