I don't know about you, but I think of what podcast I would make if I could make a podcast just about every other day. And this is, hands down, one of my favorite "big talk, small talk" questions I ask people to get them and keep them talking (at public events so that I don't have to talk). You can use that idea. It's not copyrighted--just think about your delivery. That's key. You just can't go up to someone ask them what their podcast would be.
But, seriously, what would your podcast be and why? If its a guest kind of a thing, who would your first guest be and why? Theme music? Catchy catch phrase? Please enjoy this.

I would do a podcast where I have conversations with different academics and professionals who are from fields or careers that are understudied or not as well known. I’d need to do some research to know what to ask them, but it’d be like they’re teaching me about the subject and thus, also teaching the audience about it. My internship is with the Indigenous Resources Collaborative. It’d be interesting to interview some of the people there. They’ve done a lot of archaeological work that the average person may be unfamiliar with, especially regarding Indigenous populations. For the theme music or catch phrases, I could change it every episode to match what we’ll be talking about.

I have a million ideas, but, if I'm really honest, the real, real podcast I would do would be about teaching. womp. womp. Boring I know. I would call it "the teach fearless podcast" And it would be about teaching in a world that wants teaching to be small and miserable and measurable. But really great teaching has to be brave and with heart. I would have people on it like Donaldo Macedo who teaches at UMASS Boston, but who knew Paolo Freire, who is like the farther of critical pedagogy. But I'd also just have regular teachers on who are doing cool, kind stuff. They just talk about their great classrooms. Some episodes I'd turn over to students to do so they could cover things they cared about. I would of course have to do things where I cover news about how people are trying to make teaching suck, but I would really try to talk about great, joyous classrooms. Because teachers need solidarity right now. They need to know they are safe and can do exciting things. I know. Totally boring. But kind of on brand.

A while ago I might have said a podcast on Creepypasta, going through a number of them both old and new and kind of analyzing and discussing them, but this crown has long since been taken by podcasts like Creepcast and the Nosleep podcast, so I think I'd want to do something adjacent to that.I like the idea of a horror podcast, though not necessarily a fictional one? Something that stood out to me about Hysterical was its cover image, the only visual compontent of the entire thing, and how much it unnerved me for reasons I had a hard time putting my finger on. I think I'd want a podcast that put across that sort of atmosphere for the listener; something creepy or unsettling. Maybe it would be talking about real life phenomena in some capacity, or maybe it really would be a podcast analyzing certain kidns of horror. Though Creepypastas themselves have more or less been taken, a podcast on, say, digital urban legends could be interesting. Japan in particular has a plethora of urban legends spawned from the internet so looking at that phenomenon could be fun.

I think you would like Morbid. There are a lot of gross out podcast or podcasts about the supernatural or just weird stuff that happens. There is a real market for that.

I often find myself in long, extensive conversations with my friends where we talk about relationships, politics, life, family, etc. This is nothing new for a lot of people, I know. However, at the root of these conversations I am always trying to use what I know from experience, psychology, development, etc. to help myself and my friends learn just how to understand people more. To understand perspectives as well as what to do with them. Where do we draw lines in our relationships? Where do we fail to draw lines? How do we engage ourselves in healthy relationships to ourselves, our friends, and the world around us? While these are kind of vague, I would love to set up a podcast where I invite VASTLY different guests on, from psychologists to bartenders to blue collar workers to corporate heads, just to get a better understanding of people and how experiences shape the way we think. At the end of the day, I just love to talk to new people and I would love to have a platform for that!

There is a podcast for that. There is actually a number of podcasts in this vein and often hosted by women friends around your age. Kristin Bell, wife of Mr Armchair expert had a version of that with her bestie.

I honestly have never thought about entering the realm of podcasting before! Maybe it's because I typically favor writing over speaking, or maybe it's because my brain doesn't seem to lean towards that type of creative avenue. However, I think if I could start any podcast and had the platform to do so, I would love to interview famous creatives like musicians, TV show/film writers, or published authors. I'm sure I'm not the only person interested in these topics, so I would imagine this hypothetical podcast having mainstream appeal. I'd be lying if I said this idea wasn't a bit selfish though. I draw a lot of my inspiration from the media I consume and I think it would be really cool to ask people who I am already or could be inspired by about their creative processes and the depth of their work. In a dream world, my first guest would be someone who I'm inspired by. I got the chance to see Lorde in concert last week and I'm still amazed by that show, so maybe I would choose her---I'd love to hear more about her creative process in music and design in general, and especially for her most recent album and tour.

As a server at a breakfast restaurant, I would love to host a podcast that explores stories or points my customers bring up - or things I witness in my job. Hosts could be co-workers and customers. I notice many interesting things in my job, including people, relationships, feelings, and communication - things that get my coworkers and me gossiping in the kitchen and thinking about aspects of our own lives. I could call the podcast 'Behind the Kitchen Door.', and tune people into what we all get talking about. We can touch on some funny, deep, intriguing, and questioning things, all because of what our customers say, do, and what we witness at our jobs between couples. I would love a podcast that touches on a variety of subjects, and the connecting thread would be that they are all inspired by work. Our first host could be a mystery customer - people could also remain anonymous and call in to our podcast to keep it interesting and gather more people to join us. And since we always play calm jazz music at work, I think that would be what I would play! To keep the environment of the podcast authentic in comparison to the environment where our ideas come from.

I actually love this idea--a podcast that is taped in a restaurant. And each week it's just whatever is going on in the restaurant. It would take work each week to figure out a thematic link, but it could be done.

This is a fun question, and I have a lot of different ideas, but I think if I had to choose one, I would go with a podcast about answering deep, philosophical questions that send me down rabbit holes or to create stories. That sounds a bit bizarre, but I promise I have a vision. I would definitely have guests on the show, especially people who are thoughtful and/or have a creative background with storytelling. We would talk about different topics, and if we had viewers we could ask them to think of questions for us to consider. I am, however, most interested in creating stories on the spot for people to listen to and think about, especially if we relate them to other creative ideas or past stories (think of it as a continuation of a story's universe). I also, as a 21 year old, wonder what that podcast would look like spoken by people who might indulge in activities to elevate creativity and/or think "high" thoughts in order to elaborate on ideas in ways they might not regularly (not with illegal substances of course, I hope you understand the gist). It could hypothetically be interesting.

So, sort of like an "armchair philosopher". You could start with a legit big time philosophical idea/philosopher and then go ask random people on the street what they think about it--what examples would they have to explain their idea. I like it. I like it.

As I've mentioned before, I am a big movie/tv/video game guy, so my podcast would definitely be focused on that. Or maybe just whatever art as a whole that I'm into in that moment! I'd definitely have my friends co-host with me, as I don't think me rambling on my own about something would be all that interesting. We kind of already talk too much about this stuff anyways, and we have some really fantastic discussions, so it would feel very natural in that regard. I just love talking about this stuff, especially when my friends and I get deep into *why* a piece of art has moved us so much. It's just fun for me to pick apart what makes something work for me, and while I'm no expert, I think having a podcast that flowed naturally like the conversations I already have with my friends would (hopefully) be kind of fun to listen to. Plus, we all have pretty strong, differing opinions on things, and those conversations are my favorite. As far as guests go, though, I have no idea. I doubt it would be something like that, as I'd be too worried about what I would even ask.
