Could it be the kidney stone was a sign from the universe to postpone any discussion of poetry until April? Maybe. But it is, after all, National Poetry Month. There will be much teaching and discussion of Poetry, but not nearly enough writing of it. So harness your best lovesick, broken-hearted, starry eyed teenage self and have at it. In honor of National Poetry Month, and because the world is in great need of joy and poetry, write a poem. Some inspiration, from one of the greats:

It's about my dog. We walk a lot together. And I talk to him.

This really portrays loss so well, I think! The feeling of having something constant in your life cut so suddenly short, even if it was expected. Another thing that people don't talk about is the relief of those who are no longer offering care and how there is guilt in having that relief. This poem brings up a lot of really interesting ideas

You don't need to write another one Emily. A Haiku counts. I actually thought about having everyone to write a Haiku.

As a fellow Swiftie, I am utterly obsessed and now wish I wrote about the Eras tour. It is utterly poetry worthy as Taylor is Shakespeare's contemporary in my mind.

This so beautifully describes the evolution of friendship as we grow. It's fascinating how such a specific situation for you can connect to what others have gone through - it shows we're all sorta living the same life
